PLEASE READ before going any further

I’m so glad you found this site. It can work if you take a few minutes to read this to learn how to use this website.

The main part of the site is The Help Board. The permanent link is in white on the navigation bar. Click on that.

The Help Board is the forum. There’s a general discussion area. That’s where threads like the one below with “Stunned” belongs. I can’t move it there, but I’ve stopped the comments here, and direct you there if you’d like to continue.

There’s a Jobs section, split into three: Need a Job?, Jobs Available, and an Ideas section to kick around ideas with others. Who knows what could happen! (No sales pitches please.)

And finally, the State by State section.  I believe that this will be more effective if people help one another locally. It helps your neighborhood and opens a support system.

Of course, anyone is able to peruse the state listings and offer help to anyone they choose.

Please be careful!

There’s no way I can vouch for the people who post here. I’m pretty sure most of them are who and what they say they are.  If you want to help someone, contact them and talk to them. You’ll know if it’s the real deal.

This is sort of a take a penny, give a penny. No middle man.

That said, I think people are generally good. So let’s help.

A few tips before posting your story

This is like a job appilcation. You want someone who has the means to help someone choose you over all the others who are posting their stories here.

Spend time with it… write your story. Spell out what type of help you would like (i.e., a place to live for a while, money to help pay electric bill or buy food, a job, etc.) and, most importantly, make it easy for anyone who wants to help to contact you – so include an email address, phone number, and make sure you check your private messages on this board.

The better you present your case, the more you’ll stand out from the crowd.

Let’s Help!

There’s a growing group of people in this country who seem to have been forgotten by our government.  Collectively known as “the 99ers,” these are the people who’ve exhausted all of their unemployment benefits, and have nowhere else to turn.

At this site, I hope that those most in need can connect with those who can help.

Obviously, this is a work in progress.  I’ve set up the Help Board, organized by state.  People in need of help can post their situations there, and those who are fortunate enough to be in a position to help can contact them.

Help can come in many different forms.  For some, it can be an “adopt a family” program.  For others, perhaps jobs can be matched with people looking.  Of course, monetary donations for those struggling to pay the rent, stay warm or put food on the table may be the best way to help in the short term.

Please click on The Help Board link above, and go to your state.

If you’re a 99er, post your story.  Remember to include an email address so someone with the means to help can contact you!  If you are in a position to help, please do so.

I’ve also added a Jobs forum, where seekers, employers and entrepreneurs with ideas can connect.

And if you can, please help spread the word.  This can only work if people know about it.
